Lyrics

Looking down
At the ground

My memories lost

But my sorrow's found

With all my dreams

Obscured by smoke

My tears fall into the ashes…

(But) Like a Phoenix rising high

Beauty for ashes

See the Phoenix fly

Like a Phoenix rising high

Beauty for ashes

All My regrets

They lay before me this day

As I sift through the wreckage

A ray of light I see it

Break through the clouds

Illuminating hope

The love of Heaven shining down

Like a Phoenix rising high

Beauty for ashes

See the Phoenix fly

Like a Phoenix rising high

Beauty for ashes

Like a Phoenix rising high
Beauty for ashes
Hear the Phoenix cry
Like a Phoenix rising high
Beauty for ashes

Hear the Phoenix cry
Hear the Phoenix cry
Hear the Phoenix cry
Hear the Phoenix cry

I trade my sorrow for a wardrobe of praise

This heavy spirit, I will throw it away

The oil of joy it turns this mourning to light

I'll trade these ashes for a crown shining bright

I'm dusting off all the old decay
I'll start again with a song singing praise
Can't keep me down when the Lord makes a way
I'll trade my sorrow for a wardrobe of praise
I'll trade my sorrow for a wardrobe of praise!

Like a Phoenix rising high
Beauty for ashes
See the Phoenix fly
Like a Phoenix rising high
Beauty for ashes
Like a Phoenix rising high
Beauty for ashes
Hear the Phoenix cry
Like a Phoenix rising high

Beauty for ashes

"Phoenix Rising" was written when searching for hope after the Palisades Fire. It's inspiration was found in the Words of Christ written in the ancient book of Isaiah:

Isaiah 61:1 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor]and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
61:3 To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion—to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
61:4 And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.
